CLASSROOM PROCEDURES

All students are expected to adhere to the classroom rules which are posted.

COMMUNICATION LOG

Communication Logs will be sent home each day for parents to see.  Important notes, daily comments, any   miscellaneous information can be included.  PLEASE read daily and sign it.  Students get credit for having it signed. Thank You.

BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION PROGRAM

Our behavior Modification system is based upon a number system. 5 being the best, and 1 being the worst.  Students will be given several chances/warnings before numbers are dropped.  Good behavior can raise the numbers back up, so all is not lost.  Third graders also have token towers as an added bonus until fully adjusted.  We emphasize positive actions and behaviors.  We try and teach through adverse behaviors and give alternatives to handle situations more appropriately.

HOMEWORK

Homework will be given most of the days except on Friday.  Each student is responsible to complete his work each night and return it to us in the morning.  Incomplete homework will have consequences to be determined by the teacher.  The idea is to teach each child some responsibility. Homework will increase as the year progresses and as the students’ abilities do also.  We keep track on a homework chart.  When choosing a Student of the Week, one of the criteria is the amount of homework each student completes. Other criteria includes behavior and classroom cooperation.

STUDENT OF THE WEEK

One S.O.W is chosen by the teacher each week if applicable, to be the Student of the Week.  Student is given a prize and has “special perks” through-out the next week.  His picture will be put up on the wall and he will sit up at the front desk in a “rolly” chair.

We will also be cooking and creating recipes at various times of the year.  We will also be cultivating some plants and flowers in our greenhouses as the year progresses.  Participation is contingent upon positive behavior. Our learning environment is calming and spacious.  We listen to soothing music and have snacks through-out the day. Our goal this year is to learn as much as possible, while having the most fun that we can possibly have, within the confines of our classroom. Parental involvement is always welcomed and encouraged.
